Chinese State Bank Introduces Test Application for National Digital Currency
The Chinese state bank Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) is testing the interface of the payment system based on the national digital currency. Previously, ABC was named as one of the participants in the pilot program of the Chinese Central Bank.
Screenshots of the ABC-developed mobile app were originally posted on WeChat on Tuesday. Subsequently, their authenticity was confirmed by CoinDesk. They present an interface through which users can interact with the payment system of the People’s Bank of China..
At least a few hours before publication, the iOS and Android app was available for download on the ABC’s official website. Now an error page is displayed at the specified address. The page with links to download the application remained in the Google cache, but all files were also deleted.
The presented version of the application allows you to pay using a QR code, send and receive payments, exchange digital currency, manage your wallet, track transactions and connect to other users. In addition, it has the ability to register, but so far it is only available to approved users. Testing is currently taking place in Xiong’an, Suzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen, as follows from the registration tab..
The latest news may serve as another confirmation of the acceleration of China’s plans to develop and launch a national digital currency. At the end of March, it became known that the People’s Bank of China completed the technological stage of project preparation.
